Trade-In + Peer-to-Peer = A Powerful Resale Combination

There are two types of reseller personalities: those that want the most money for their items sold and those who just want an easy, low-lift way to send in their items with instant gratification.

There are two types of reseller personalities: those that want the most money for their items sold and those who just want an easy, low-lift way to send in their items with instant gratification. Price-conscious resellers gravitate toward peer-to-peer resale experiences where they can get 80-110% of the sales price in cash or credit back to the brand; convenience-seeking resellers prefer trade-in programs where they can toss items in the mail in exchange for immediate credit.

Both types of resellers care about responsible consumerism and keeping their items in circulation. Both are equally worth reaching. If brands want to capture their total addressable resale market, they have to cater to these two groups. Historically, this hasn’t been possible, and brands have been stuck deciding which customers to cater to until today.

With the official launch of Treet’s Trade-In Portal, brands can now create inclusive resale experiences that meet the resale needs of their entire community. Any brand can create a peer-to-peer + trade-in resale program where their customers decide how they want to resell their items. The power is in their hands. Those looking to earn a higher value for items sold can opt for peer-to-peer selling, while others looking for a convenient way to responsibly clean out their closets opt for trade-in. It’s that simple.

Trade-in + peer-to-peer resale

At Treet, our mission is to help every item made live its longest life through resale, and this is a huge step forward to reaching that mission.

JuJube is one of our first brand partners to offer this resale program to their customers. They already saw big success with their Treet-powered peer-to-peer resale model but felt they were missing out on a huge percentage of their community by not offering trade-in. If they wanted to reach their entire audience, they’d have to offer both resale models. Fortunately, this was on our product roadmap!

When JuJuBe launched their trade-in program, they received hundreds of items that were traded in for brand credit in just a few days post-launch. Now, many of our other brands that have only offered one type of resale are adding a peer-to-peer to trade-in experience and staying competitive in this vast resale market.
