3 Ways to Promote Resale Ahead of Earth Day

Every month is Earth Month at Treet HQ, but with Earth Day coming up on April 22nd, we’re thrilled to shine a brighter spotlight on sustainable resale – and we encourage our brand partners to do the same.

Every month is Earth Month at Treet HQ, but with Earth Day coming up on April 22nd, we’re thrilled to shine a brighter spotlight on sustainable resale – and we encourage our brand partners to do the same.

Giving even just one item a second life through resale reduces its CO2 emissions by 82%. Whether you’re spring cleaning your inventory through resale, or encouraging your customers to shop secondhand, these actions make a positive impact on the planet –  and your bottom line.

We’ve compiled a few easy ways you can promote resale this month:

1. Highlight your resale shop on your homepage. Now is the perfect time to shout out all the ways your brand is taking action to be more eco-friendly, such as providing your customers a direct path for buying and selling pre-loved clothing and accessories. We recommend bringing your resale shop front and center by adding it to your homepage banner, top navigation bar or a welcome pop up. See some great examples below:

2. Send a dedicated email. There’s still plenty of time to send an email to your audience encouraging new listings, or showcasing top secondhand styles currently live on your resale site. Weave in sustainability-focused messaging and be sure to share your “Why” around offering resale. You can also remind your community of the steps to buy or sell a secondhand item.

3. Show pre-loved some love on social. Gen-Z is known as the Sustainability Generation and according to a recent NRF report, they spend 4.5 hours a day on social media. It’s safe to say social media is the best way to connect with your younger consumers who crave organic content (big plus if it’s video-based). Use your Instagram and TikTok platforms to create snackable and shareable content for max engagement this month (like examples from Maaji below) – and don’t forget to add it to your highlights.
